We created Segi’s Zobo hoping to do three things:
This is what has been our motivation from February 17, 2016 and is still true to us today.
Our company started on February 17, 2016 in a small kitchen in a 2-bedroom apartment in Lekki, Lagos, Nigeria brewing the Zobo leaves in small pots with a lot of love and excitement but as meticulous as possible to ensure the right taste for the few who patronized us. It was sold to friends and colleagues, served in small cups with straws and delivered in baskets to customers. In late 2016, we moved from cups to procuring already existing bottles from the open market. We also secured our first 3 Stockists all in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos, Nigeria and commenced event activations to share the brand with more people.
In Q1 2017, we took the decision to secure NAFDAC approval to enable us to move our brand into the homes of more Nigerians. The journey to our NAFDAC approval took us 18 months, moved us from our small kitchen to a factor in Ajah, Lagos and motivated us to create our customized bottles embossed with the Segi’s signature. In November 2018, we fully commenced operation as a NAFDAC approved brand.
Today, we source our raw materials – all natural; directly from farmers in the Northern region of Nigeria, produce our bottles locally in Lagos and have a growing team of employees who put their heart and soul into ensuring you get the best quality with that same authentic taste of zobo known over generations.
